Projecta IDC25XIQ 25A DC-DC Battery Charger with Intelli-IQ Support

The Projecta IDC25XIQ is a compact, intelligent 25A dual battery charger built for reliability and control in demanding Australian conditions. Designed for under-bonnet or remote installations, it handles charging from both solar and alternator sources simultaneously and supports advanced Bluetooth monitoring when paired with Projecta's Intelli-IQ system. Whether you're parked in the sun or driving down the street, the IDC25XIQ ensures your auxiliary battery is charged accurately, efficiently, and safely - no matter the environment.

Key Features:

  • Reliable 25A Output
Capable of delivering a full 25 amps (when input voltage is above 11V), the IDC25XIQ suits mid-sized auxiliary battery systems in 4WDs, caravans, and camper trailers. It maintains a consistent charge whether you’re using solar, alternator, or both.

  • Dual Input Charging with Solar Priority
Automatically prioritises solar power to reduce alternator load and fuel consumption. If solar input is insufficient, the IDC25XIQ draws from both sources simultaneously for maximum charge performance.

  • Multi-Chemistry Support
Compatible with LiFePO₄, AGM, Gel, Wet, and Calcium batteries. Each chemistry has its own tailored charging profile - including equalisation mode for Calcium and a lithium wake-up feature for BMS-protected batteries.

  • MPPT Solar Charging
Integrated Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) ensures maximum solar efficiency, even in low light. No external solar regulator is required - even with portable solar panels (regulators must be bypassed).

  • Fully Sealed IP68/IP69K Housing
Designed to withstand water, dust, vibration, and high-pressure washing, the IDC25XIQ can be confidently mounted under the bonnet or on chassis rails in off-road environments.

  • Smart Alternator Ready
Includes ignition override functionality for seamless operation with variable-voltage alternators, commonly found in modern vehicles with stop-start systems.

  • Temperature & Voltage Compensation
Built-in temperature sensors and voltage drop compensation allow precise charging regardless of weather or cable length—crucial for long-distance installations in utes and camper trailers.

  • Intelli-IQ Compatible
Connects with the optional Projecta IQD2 display and Intelli-IQ app for real-time monitoring, setup, diagnostics, and firmware updates via Bluetooth.

  • Parallel Charging Capable
Can be installed in parallel with another IDC25X to provide a combined 50A output for larger battery systems or future expansion.

  • Comprehensive Protection
Includes reverse polarity detection, over-voltage and under-voltage shutdown, thermal derating, short circuit detection, and soft-start functionality. It’s built to protect both your batteries and your investment.

Installation Notes:

Recommended Cable Sizes (up to 12m runs):

  • Alternator Input: 8mm² (8 B&S)
  • Solar Input: 8mm² (8 B&S)
  • Aux Battery Output: 8mm² (8 B&S)
  • Ground: 8mm² (8 B&S)
  • Ignition/LIN/TEMP/LED: 1–1.5mm²

Fusing Requirements:

  • Install 50A fuses on both input and output cables as close to the battery terminals as possible. Use fuse holders like FK25A if desired.

Smart Alternator Connection:

  • For vehicles with variable-voltage alternators, connect the ignition input to a switched ignition source and include a 1–2A fuse.

Solar Panel Setup:

  • Connect panels directly to the solar input terminal. If using a portable solar panel with a built-in regulator, bypass the regulator to allow the IDC25XIQ’s MPPT to operate.

Temperature Sensor:

  • Use the included 5m temperature loom for accurate thermal compensation. Attach the sensor to the battery case, not the terminal.

External LED Status Output:

  • Optional. The pink LED wire provides ~5mA to power an indicator LED (not included). Connect LED positive to the wire and ground the negative side.

Ideal Applications

  • Dual battery systems in 4WDs and Utes
  • Camper trailers and small caravans
  • Off-grid weekenders or touring setups
  • Smart alternator vehicles
  • Marine dual battery systems
  • Lithium upgrade conversions

What battery types can the IDC25XIQ charge?
The IDC25XIQ supports Lithium (LiFePO₄), AGM, Gel, Wet, and Calcium batteries with dedicated charge profiles tailored to each chemistry.
Is a separate solar regulator required?
No. The IDC25XIQ includes an integrated MPPT solar regulator and can accept solar input directly. Bypass any built-in regulators on portable solar panels.
Is the IDC25XIQ compatible with smart alternators?
Yes. The charger includes an ignition override input to work with modern smart alternators found in vehicles with stop/start or variable voltage systems.
Can I use the IDC25XIQ with a lithium auxiliary battery?
Yes. The IDC25XIQ features a dedicated LiFePO₄ charging profile, including a lithium wake-up mode to handle batteries with BMS protection.
What is the maximum input and output current?
The maximum input current is 35A. Output is 20A when input voltage is between 9–11V, and 25A when above 11V.
What size fuse should be used with the IDC25XIQ?
Use a 50A fuse on both the input and output sides. Mount each fuse as close as possible to the battery terminals.
Can I monitor the IDC25XIQ from my smartphone?
Yes, when connected to the optional Intelli-IQ system and IQD2 display. This allows Bluetooth monitoring and control via the Projecta IQ App.
Is the IDC25XIQ waterproof?
Yes. The unit is rated IP68 and IP69K, making it fully sealed against water, dust, and high-pressure washing—ideal for engine bays and chassis mounts.
Can two IDC25XIQ chargers be used together?
Yes. Two IDC25X units can be wired in parallel to provide up to 50A combined charging current for larger battery systems.
How do I know when my battery is fully charged?
